Emerging from a cascade of vintage vinyl crackle and forward-thinking attention to detail, Washington natives Darklit craft a beautiful series of organically textured tunes on their debut Grayscale Vision that pay influence to beat pioneers such as Dilla and Flying Lotus while incorporating their own flavor of evolution to a revered and expansive echelon of electronic music in the Internet epoch.

Darklit is a duo consisting of Ben Shmidt and Kin WP, both 15 years old. With a sound and mentality favoring the dusty crate-digger atmosphere of their stylistic predecessors, Darklit weave intricately layered sample work and electronic warping that coalesces in a listening experience that is far beyond the sum of its parts - Grayscale Vision as a realized conceptual offering scales lots of sonic ground over its 8 tracks, and each individual track summons vivid, vibrant imagery with flourishing substance and impeccable percussive discretion - listening to Darklit isn't just well suited for setting ambiance like so many of their contemporaries; their approach to composition renders lush, immersive tracks that individually push boundaries and perpetuate well-adjusted and executed ideas that leave each track with a distinct identity, the synchronicity between which forms the pillars of creation upon which they let their ideas blossom.
